PowerSchool Data Breach Information

January 8, 2025

Good Afternoon North Haven School Community,

Many school districts in Connecticut, as well as across the globe, were notified by PowerSchool yesterday afternoon that they were a part of a data breach. Unfortunately, North Haven Public Schools is among these districts. District administration was in immediate contact with legal counsel regarding this matter. Additionally, our internal technology department has been working to analyze the data included in the breach in order to provide accurate information to staff and families regarding this incident.

At this time, PowerSchool has shared that they have enlisted the assistance of a third party Cyber Security firm to investigate this incident. While this investigation is ongoing, they have assured districts that they have negotiated with the bad actor to delete the records. Currently, PowerSchool has no evidence to believe the data has been copied, shared, or otherwise disseminated to other parties.

This afternoon, we will be conferencing with PowerSchool and anticipate additional guidance from our legal counsel shortly. We will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Please direct any questions to [email protected]

Sincerely,
